Privacy policy
Last updated 13 October 2026
The short version: we only collect what we need to build and look after your website, we never sell your data, and you can ask us to see, change or delete it at any time by emailing hello@webquick.uk.
1. Who we are
WebQuick is a website design business run by Carter Canlin, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom, trading as WebQuick. We are the "controller" of the personal information described in this policy.
Contact: hello@webquick.uk
2. What we collect
| When | What we collect |
|---|---|
| You fill in our brief | Your name, business name, email, phone number (optional), details about your business, your website preferences, and any photos, logos or files you upload. |
| You email or message us | Your name, contact details and whatever you choose to tell us. |
| You become a client | Billing details, invoices and records of the work we do for you. Payments are handled by Stripe, so we never see or store your full card or bank details. |
| You visit our website | Basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, recorded automatically by our hosting provider for security and performance. |
| We contact your business | If we get in touch with your business first, we use business contact details that are publicly available, for example on your Google Business listing or social media page. |
3. How and why we use it
- To respond to your brief and build your website. This is necessary to take the steps you've asked for and to carry out our contract with you.
- To bill you and keep business records. We're legally required to keep financial records for tax purposes.
- To look after your site on the Care plan, including hosting, updates and domain renewals, as part of our contract with you.
- To contact businesses about our services. We do this based on our legitimate interest in growing our business. We only use business contact details, we follow UK marketing rules, and you can opt out at any time by replying "no thanks" or emailing us.
- To keep our website secure and working properly, which is in our legitimate interests.
We never sell your personal information, and we don't use it for automated decision-making or profiling.
4. Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted services to run WebQuick. They only process your information on our instructions:
| Service | What for |
|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosting this website and receiving brief submissions |
| ImprovMX and Microsoft Outlook | Receiving and managing our email |
| Stripe | Taking payments and Direct Debits |
| Google Fonts | Displaying the fonts on this website (your browser connects to Google to load them) |
| Domain registrars | Registering web addresses on your behalf |
Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States. Where your information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by recognised safeguards such as the UK–US Data Bridge or the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement and Addendum.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or with an accountant for tax purposes.
5. Cookies
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't run analytics tools. If you submit a brief, your browser briefly stores your first name in its own temporary storage so the thank-you page can greet you. It's deleted when you close the tab and is never sent to us. If we add analytics in future, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent where required.
6. How long we keep it
- Briefs and enquiries that don't go ahead: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Client records and invoices: 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as required for tax purposes.
- Website files and photos you give us: for as long as we're looking after your website, then returned or deleted when you ask.
- Business contact details used for outreach: until you opt out, or 12 months after our last contact.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that's wrong
- ask us to delete your information
- object to us using your information, including for marketing
- ask us to limit how we use it, or to send it to you or another provider in a usable format
Email hello@webquick.uk and we'll respond within one month. There's no charge.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
8. Keeping it secure
We use reputable providers with strong security, secure (HTTPS) connections, and strong passwords with two-step verification on our accounts. Only WebQuick has access to your information.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
